Family & Community Letters
This is always an exciting time of year as the holiday season is on our doorsteps; our families, students, and staff members are preparing for our upcoming Thanksgiving break, student holiday programs, and our winter holiday break. It is also a busy time for CCSD as we’ve been addressing some major district initiatives.
Next week, CCSD will be holding our fall in-service scheduled for Monday, October 31 and Tuesday, November 1. Due to the number of school shootings that have taken place in the past year, CCSD will host Erin Terry, FBI Victim Specialist, for our in-service. Erin Terry, accompanied by a number of her colleagues virtually, will be working with CCSD staff members on Monday, October 31 on four specific areas related to responding to a school shooting:
At the writing of this letter, CCSD is completing our 4th week of school. The first four weeks of school have gone really well. The entire staff has done a fantastic job of welcoming our new students to the district and welcoming back our returning students. The first couple of weeks of a new year are always hectic as everyone settles into new routines and schedules. Our teachers, support staff, office staff, and administrative team in collaboration, of course, with our students and families have done an exceptional job. We couldn’t be more pleased about our start and what lies before us during the 2022-2023 school year.
The start of the new school year is just around the corner (school begins on Wednesday, August 31), and we are excited to welcome
our students and staff members to a new year. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I want to provide information regarding a
couple of items the district has been addressing during the summer months.
The spring legislative session was a busy one as it relates to education, especially for CCSD. Two significant pieces of legislation were transferred to Governor Dunleavy’s desk for signature that will significantly support CCSD’s efforts to improve the educational context we provide our students.
